Australia Released Satellite Photos of Possible Malaysian Flight MH370

Search aircraft are investigating two objects spotted by satellite floating in the southern Indian Ocean off Australia that could be debris from a Malaysian jetliner missing for 12 days with 239 people on board.

Australian officials said the objects, the largest of which measured up to 24 metres (78 ft), were around 2,500 km (1,500 miles) southwest of Perth, and appeared to be awash over water several thousand metres deep.

"I can confirm we have a new lead," Malaysian Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein told reporters in Kuala Lumpur, where the investigation into the missing airliner is based.

Another official in Malaysia said investigators were "hopeful but cautious" about the Australian discovery.

No confirmed wreckage from Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 has been found since it vanished from air traffic control screens off Malaysia's east coast early on March 8, less than an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur for Beijing.
"New and credible information has come to light in relation to the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 in the southern Indian Ocean," Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott told the country's parliament.

"The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has received information based on satellite imagery of objects possibly related to the search."

Four military search planes were dispatched on Thursday to try to determine whether two large objects bobbing in a remote part of the Indian Ocean were part of a possible debris field of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight.

One of the objects spotted by satellite imagery had a dimension of 24 meters (almost 80 feet) in length and the other one 5 meters (15 feet). There could be other objects in waters nearby in the area that's a four-hour flight from Australia's southwestern coast, said John Young, manager of Australian Maritime Safety Authority's emergency response division.

"This is a lead, it's probably the best lead we have right now," Young said. He cautioned that the objects could be seaborne debris along a shipping route where containers can fall off cargo vessels, although the larger object is longer than a container. - Associated Press

Malaysian Airlines MH370 Vanished - Search Widened to Crack the Mystery

Authorities searching for the missing Malaysia Airlines plane have widened their search, with the west coast of Malaysia now "the focus" of the hunt.

The airline said in a statement it was looking at the possibility that the plane tried to return to an airport at Subang, near the capital, Kuala Lumpur.

But the statement stressed officials were looking at all possibilities.

Beijing-bound flight MH370 vanished on Saturday shortly after it left Kuala Lumpur. There were 239 people on board.

In a statement, Malaysia Airlines said: "The search and rescue teams have expanded the scope beyond the flight path."

"The authorities are looking at a possibility of an attempt made by MH370 to turn back to Subang... Apart from the search in the sea, search on land in between these areas is also conducted."

Rescue teams from several countries are scouring the seas for signs of the plane.

Malaysian authorities said on Monday they were expanding the search area from 50 nautical miles from where the plane had disappeared - over waters between Malaysia and Vietnam - to 100 nautical miles (115 miles; 185km).

Flight MH370 left Kuala Lumpur for Beijing at 00:41 local time on Saturday (16:41 GMT on Friday). But radio contact was lost at 17:30 GMT, somewhere between Malaysia and Vietnam.

Nokia Makes Android Debut in India

Finnish handset maker Nokia, on Monday, launched Nokia X, based on the Android operating system, in the domestic market with a price tag of Rs.8,599.

Besides, the company said, it would introduce two more devices as part of the Nokia X family — Nokia X+ and Nokia XL.

The dual SIM Nokia X is a 4-inch device, powered by a 1 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

It features a tile-based design, 512MB RAM, up to 32GB expandable memory, 3MP camera and 1500 mAH battery. Commenting on the launch, Nokia India Managing Director P. Balaji said, “India is one of the fastest growing markets for smart phones in the world. With the launch of Nokia X, we are adding more ammunition to our smartphone portfolio. We believe Nokia X is a unique combination of Nokia quality and experiences, Microsoft services and Android apps.”

While the device is based on the Android open platform, Nokia X users will not have access to Google’s app market ‘Google Play’.

However, they can sideload Android apps from third party app stores as well as Microsoft app store.

As the Gaming industry has been working to craft sophisticated mobile games and promotion campaigns to serve a growing number of mobile gamers, the app that got the most attention was one that seriously bucked the trend: It had one mechanic, no story, no progression and became a hit with nearly no organized promotion.

With Flappy Bird being Popular, all the gaming markets are flooded with the games with 'Flappy' word. Google Play blocked the games with Flappy word in them to control this Flood.

This Sensational game was developed by Dong Nyugen, a Vietnamese developer with a studio called DotGears. Dong was developing small games in his Spare Time from the past few Years and posting them to various Gaming Markets. Some gaming industry observers were stunned that Mr. Dong would voluntarily kill off a game that at its peak was bringing in $50,000 a day in advertising revenue. Speculation in recent days has been rife that removing the game was a publicity stunt to drum up interest in future games he is working on.

The reality, Mr. Dong said, is that he enjoys making videogames in his spare time, and the attention that "Flappy Bird" garnered badly crimped his style.

He still lives at home with his parents in Hanoi, but finds it difficult to walk down the street in his neighborhood without being pestered. He said he has virtually disconnected himself from the Internet and hasn't checked his email in days. He is also on vacation from his day job writing firmware for sophisticated computer hardware and said he isn't sure if or when he will return to work.

The fuss, Mr. Dong said, "is extremely uncomfortable" and he is waiting for his life to return to normal. He refused to be photographed or filmed.

In a bizarre tribute, some players listed their iPhones for sale on Internet auction site eBay,noting that they were preloaded with "Flappy Bird." One was listed for $134,295, although others are more modestly priced, with "Flappy Bird" mentioned as an additional inducement to potential buyers.

Facebook Acquires Watsapp

Facebook is buying mobile messaging service WhatsApp for $19 billion in cash and stock, by far the company's largest acquisition and bigger than any that Google, Microsoft or Apple have ever done. The world's biggest social networking company said Wednesday that it is paying $12 billion in Facebook stock and $4 billion in cash for WhatsApp. 

"The acquisition supports Facebook and WhatsApp's shared mission to bring more connectivity and utility to the world by delivering core internet services efficiently and affordably. The combination will help accelerate growth and user engagement across both companies," the filing stated. "WhatsApp is on a path to connect 1 billion people. The services that reach that milestone are all incredibly valuable," said Mark Zuckerberg, 

Facebook founder and CEO. "I've known Jan for a long time and I'm excited to partner with him and his team to make the world more open and connected." The company also announced that WhatsApp's cofounder and CEO Jan Koum would join Facebook's board of directors.

WhatsApp, a messaging service for smartphones, lets users chat with their phone contacts, both one-on-one and in groups. The service allows people to send texts, photos, videos and voice recordings over the Internet. It also lets users communicate with people overseas without incurring charges for pricey international texts and phone calls. It costs $1 per year and has no ads.

The deal is expected to close later this year.

Shares of Menlo Park, California-based Facebook slid $1.12 to $66.94 in extended trading after the deal was announced.

Sachin Tendulkar Awarded Bharat Ratna

Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and eminent scientist CNR Rao were conferred with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, by President Pranab Mukherjeein a glittering ceremony in the Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday.

The two joined the list of 41 eminent personalities, who have been conferred with the Bharat Ratna in recognition for their contribution to the society.

At 40, Tendulkar, dressed in a black bandhgala and accompanied by his wife Anjali and daughter Sarah, became the youngest recipient of the Bharat Ratna. Tendulkar, who retired from all forms of international cricket in November last year, beat legendary hockey wizard the late Dhyan Chand to the highest civilian honour of India. The Bharat Ratna was also given to eminent scientist Professor CNR Rao as well on Tuesday. Professor Rao is exactly double of Tendulkar's age.

Tendulkar's name was recommended by the Prime Minister's Office. The PMO had sought information on him from the sports ministry on November 14, the first day of his farewell Test at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Two days later, a formal announcement was made after formalities involving the Prime Minister and President were completed.

Speaking after the ceremony, Sachin called the award his "greatest honour" and said he "will continue to bat for India and try my best to give the people of India a reason to smile."

He is the first man to play 200 five-day Test matches, and he played more one-day international games, 463, than anyone else. He is the highest career run scorer - 15,847 in Tests and 18,426 in one-days -- in both formats. He has also scored 100 or more runs more often than anyone else in both formats, with 51 in Tests and 49 in one-days, giving him a neat and unprecedented 100 centuries in international cricket.

Microsoft Named Indian Born Satya Nadella as CEO

Microsoft Corp. today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Satya Nadella as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors effective immediately. Nadella previously held the position of Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise group. 

Satya Nadella was born in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India to an IAS officer, B. N. Yugandhar, a Telugu Brahmin family hailing from Krishna District. who was a member of the Planning Commission during 2004-2009 under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Satya attended the Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet before attaining a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics degree from Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, Karnataka.

After moving to the US, Nadella earned an MS in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
“During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella,” said Bill Gates, Microsoft’s Founder and Member of the Board of Directors. “Satya is a proven leader with hard-core engineering skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together. Facebook Completed its Ten Years on February 4th 2014.

Facebook was founded in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. The founders had initially limited the website's membership to Harvard students, but later expanded it to colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It gradually added support for students at various other universities before it opened to high-school students, and eventually to anyone aged 13 and over. Facebook now allows anyone who claims to be at least 13 years old to become a registered user of the website.

At the end of January 2014, 1.23 billion users were active on the website every month, while on December 31, 2013, 945 million of this total were identified by the company as mobile users.

In an interview to The Times of India, Facebook’s India chief, Kirthiga Reddy, confirmed that India is top of mind at Facebook’s HQ. Mark Zuckerberg – or Zuck, as she calls him – sees India as a key market for its monetisation drive and a lead market for Facebook’s emerging economy models. The numbers tell Facebook’s growth story in India. The social networking website sees 2 million new users in India each month and is currently home to 93 million users in the country. The numbers impress further when you realise that the Indian user base is second only to the US in the world right now.

Among the growing challenges is the soaring popularity of smartphone apps that let people share images, videos, thoughts or observations at any moment. Social networking sites such as Pinterest, Twitter and SnapChat have sparked concerns that Facebook which set a social networking trend in motion may be losing its original teen base. 

Teens in the US have been moving on to more private modes of communications, some even risqué ones at that. Facebook’s stumble has put more attention on apps like WhatsApp, WeChat, and most importantly, Snapchat. India's First Monorail Takes Off in Mumbai

After years of delay and many operational hiccups, the country’s first Monorail service made its debut in Mumbai on Saturday. Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan inaugurated the service, which will open to public on Sunday.

The Rs 3,000-crore monorail project is being implemented in two phases. The first phase comprises the 8.9 km long Wadala-Chembur section, while in the second phase the services will be extended to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk in South Mumbai.

The monorail project has been executed by a consortium of engineering major Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T) and Malaysian firm Scomi Engineering and owned and operated by MMRDA.

The monorail is expected to reduce the travel time between Wadala and Chembur by almost half, from 40 minutes at present to nearly 21 minutes.

The Monorail, a light rapid transport system, is set to change the way Mumbaikars travel as access to its air-conditioned coaches will be through smart-card tickets, lifts and escalators at overhead stations.

Legendary Telugu Actor Dr. Akkineni Nageswara Rao Dies of Cancer

Legendary Telugu actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao passed away at a private hospital in Hyderabad at 2.12 am on Wednesday after battling cancer for several months. He was 91.

Nageswara Rao was Born on September 20, 1923 in Venkata Raghavapuram of Krishna district, this first generation actor in Telugu debuted with Dharmapatni in 1941. There was no looking back and he went on to showcase his skills as an actor par excellence in 256 films, including Devadasu, Laila Majnu, Anarkali, Premabhishekham, Prema Nagar and Megha Sandesham to name a few.

He was honoured with India's second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 2011. He was also honoured with Padma Shri,Dada Saheb Phalke Award and the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award

He is credited with being a pioneer in shifting Telugu film industry from then Madras to Hyderabad.

He established Annapurna studios and his son Nagarjuna , daughter-in-law Amala and several grandsons followed in ANR's footsteps to become actors.

Soon as news of his demise spread, there was a steady stream of people from the Telugu film industry and other fields of society, to his house in Jubilee Hills. His body is being shifted to Annapurna Studios, where it will be kept for people to pay their last respects.

ANR's Last Movie was Manam, Which is yet to be released that casts three generations of the Akkineni family including himself, actor Nagarjuna and grandson Naga Chaitanya in it.

America Experiencing Dangerous Polar Vertex

The bitter chill gripping North America is a result of Arctic air that has spilled southwards, and global warming may be a cause.

A huge mass of arctic air has slipped away from the North Pole, settled over the U.S. and made everything really, really cold. The Midwest was battling uncommonly frigid weather that threatened to break some all-time-low temperature records.

Facebook Acquired Bangalore Based Little Eye Labs

Facebook set to buy Indian Startup Little Eye Labs for $15 Million.

Bangalore-based Little Eye Labs has become the first Indian firm to be bought by Facebook, going from creation to acquisition in less than 18 months.

For Facebook, the deal helps in its push towards the mobile environment, and at areally cheap price. An investor in Little Eye said the American company was striking a really good bargain; such a package would have cost much more anywhere else in the world. Little Eye is majority-owned by its team of eight, including the five founders. GSF SuperAngels and VenturEast Tenet had invested a total of about $400,000 (Rs 2.5 crore) in the fledgling company nine months ago.





The deal has enthused the startup community in India with many believing that this is only the beginning of many more such transactions.

Little Eye Labs was founded in August 2012 by Rangarajan and his colleagues from Rational Software. The entire Little Eye Labs team will move to Facebook's headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
